Nightlife Spot: Karlovy Lazne
This place is 4 (I think) floors of music, each floor having its own theme/genre. Some floors have more house music, while others are your generic pop rock music. If you want to meet someone from Prague, don't go there. If you would like to meet people from all over the world....this is your place.

Nightlife Spot: Mecca
This is a very cool club with 3 seperated areas. First, you walk into a lounge area, very posh looking...You go through the hall and enter the main room that contains a large bar and dance floor, along with the cream of the crop in Prague nightlife society. Then you go downstairs to the hang out. This is quite a loungy place, as well, but far from the posh design of the front room. It is where you go to chill out with loud music, a ciggy, a drink, and the guy or girl you are hoping to land by the end of the night! Very cool place, cool music (even though I don't normally like techno), expensive drinks, but well worth it.

U Zlateho Tygra: Best Beer in Prague?

Nightlife Spot: U Zlateho Tygra
This place is one of the most famous and historical pubs in the country. It is where Bohumil Hrabal drank, where Vaclav Havel drinks, and where Mr. Clinton himself visited on his trip to CZ. They still pour the best tasting pivo that I have tasted, they have an atmosphere like no other place and ghosts create a chilled feeling when you walk in the room. Highly recommended, although good luck in finding a seat. It would be better to come as soon as it opens.

Nightlife Spot: Ziznivy Jelen
This is my favourite pub in Prague, although it is anything but a tourist spot. It is not in the tourist area, although it is close and worth the trip. One of the few places left in Prague where you have to ask to have NO MORE beer instead of asking for another. He just keeps on bringin them before you can say stop!

Nightlife Spot: Futurum
Futurum is a very loud generic dance club, however, the pull to this one is that it is not as frequented by expats/tourists/foreigners as other places on the east side of the river. And it delivers a good time, including 80/90's nights, guest djs, video shows and the such. Drinks are a tad cheaper here, as well, because of the location. So if you are looking for a place where you won't feel like you have temporarily left the Czech Republic, this might be it.

Murphy's pub: An Irish Pub in Prague??? Who would have thought!

Nightlife Spot: Murphy's pub
Ok, so the only thing really Irish about this place is the sign out front, and the Kelt Stout on tap (which is, incidentally brewed by Staropramen Brewery), but this pub is one of my favourite haunts. They have decent beer, good times, and pretty good food, all at out-of-the-centre prices while not being terribly far from the centre. Their grilled sausage (with fresh horseradish root) is great, as is their "Hermelin" pickled Camembert cheese....great accompaniments to your delicious dollar pint of Staropramen

U Maleho Glena: Little Glen's Little Jazz Joint

|
Nightlife Spot: U Maleho Glena
U Maleho Glena is a great little place to see a good jazz or blues band. A common performer is Stan the Man, an expat that has been playing the blues circuit in Prague for years. A great show! The food at Glen's is pretty decent as well, although, because it is a bit of an expat hangout, the prices of food (and beer) are a bit higher than in other places. but if you like live music, this is a great hideout just a block or 2 away from the action of Malostranske Namesti and Charles Bridge. For those looking for a place to stay, they also offer apartment accomodations above the bar for around 2000 KC per night.

Ungelt Jazz and Blues Club: Cool Jazz Joint

|
Nightlife Spot: Ungelt Jazz and Blues Club
Ungelt is a nice looking place with several different areas, including a nice little garden out front. For the location, the price of beer is not too bad, and they usually have decent artists playing. There is nightly live music, which varies between jazz and blues. The best thing Ungelt has going for it is its location. It is located directly behind Tyn Church on Old Town Square, so it is very easy to find for tourists. Because of that, it is not frequented so much by locals, but is a good hangout nonetheless.

The Czech Opera House: An Evening of Culture and Music

Nightlife Spot: The Czech Opera House
Whether you come from a place that is culturally rich in opera, theatre, etc. or not, going to the Czech Opera is an experience all its own. The Opera House is, in itself, an architechtural gem, and something to behold. It was contructed in 1888 as a place to perform German theatre and opera, as there was a huge German influence in the Czech Republic at that time (even the street signs were in German in that era). Nowadays, operas from all the famous European composers, including Dvorak and Smetana, Czech Republic's most famous composers, are performed there, as well as modern performances, including one composed by a famous (in Czech Republic) folk singer named Jaromir Nohavica.
