I have never stayed there, as I lived there, but friends did, and they enjoyed it thoroughly. They have a location on Kampa Island, near Old Town Sq, and one at Ujezd, which is at the foot of Petrin Park. They are clean and economical, and fun places to be.

When we went to Advantage Hostel, it was after probably the worst experience in Europe I have ever had. We took the bait at the train station from someone selling a place to stay, only to have him change the price on us when we got there, and we ended up having to walk 1 hour with our packs back downtown to find a new place to stay. I know what you are thinking...if that's the worst you have seen, lucky you...yah I know.

Anyways, we were tired, pissed off, and...oh did I say tired? Yeah so we could have been annoyed at anything from the place we got. However, Advantage was clean, decent looking, and within 2 blocks of the Muzeum. We had a room of about 6 beds (no bunks) and were the only ones there at the time.

Breakfast was included, but it was limited to bread with jam or pate, and coffee.

Unique Qualities: Cheap, clean, in the centre...nothing to complain about at all.

Hostel Vesta is a hostel located in the tower of the main train station. It is a place to sleep in a very good location. That is a bout it. it was generally clean, which is good. However, it is not at all a place I would think to hang out, meet people, etc.

Unique Qualities: It is very conveniently located in the tower of the train station. Perfect for stop-overs, and great location to begin exploring the city from the very heart of it (2 blocks from Wenceslas Sq)

Directions: out the main doors of the train station, turn left, on the corner of the building is a staircase/lift up to the hostel.

Pension Unitas is built in the building that housed prisoners of the former Czech Secret Police, people who were deemed "enemies of the state", including recently retired Czech President Vaclav Havel, who spent a few nights in the basement of this complex as a dissident against the communist regime.

The Pension is actually on the ground level up, with the "Art Prison Hostel" in the basement.

The Pension is your standard pension with decent beds, clean rooms, friendly staff and free breakfast.

I stayed in the prison hostel, which is much different. It is a great experience to stay in jail for your stay in Prague. They encorporate old metal-tube bunks for beds, in the old prison cells in the dungeonous basement, which is decorated with art/grafitti on the hallway walls. The beds are comfortable (although they don't look it) and, best of all, you pay less for this experience than the regular pension.

Unique Qualities: The Pension/Prison hostel is located in a great area 1 block from Narodni trida metro station, mere steps from Old Town Sq, Wencelas Square, and the Vltava River.
