The Golden City

The City of the Ages

A view of Prague, Charles Bridge from Castle
Prague is simply one of the most beautiful cities in the world, if not THE most beautiful. It has been the seat of the Roman Empire, and a prominent part of history throughout its existence. Because of that, there has been a lot of architectural development throughout the ages to show the city's prominence at that time. Prague is probably the only place in the world where you can see architectural styles from Gothic to 20th Century cubism.

Just walking the streets is a marvel for the senses. By the end of the trip, your neck will need massaging from craning upwards all the time. :)

The People

The true Czech culture lies in the pub. Ask any Czech and they will tell you this defines them. They live for it. The spirit of people in the pubs is like nowhere else and it brings an energy to the streets that you can sense as soon as you step outside.

Czech people are very proud people, but at the same time, very shy and unconfident. Some people will be apprehensive to speak to you on the street, but get them in the pub and you will be best friends within a few hours. All the world's issues are solved in the pub. This is probably why they have a bar in parliament, as well!

The Prague Experience

Prague is best done by foot, as there is no reason anyone without a disability should miss walking the streets of Prague. There are so many places to start exploring, from Old Town, to New Town, and through Vinohrady, to Mala Strana, and up through Petrin.

Each area contains amazing architecture, relaxing parks with great views, churches and monuments, interesting shops and galleries, historic pubs and trendy new restaurants.

The true Prague experience would need no less than 2 weeks, if you have the time, but you could get through the basics in a week. Any less time, and you haven yet to open up all that the Golden City has to offer.

Pros:"Architecture, cheap, easy walking city, something for everyone"
Cons:"Usually very crowded during all but probably 3 months."
In A Nutshell:"One of the most beautiful cities on Earth!"

A nice stroll thru Praha. I also spent many years in Praha while young. You name a city, I had seen them all on 4 continents, except Africa. There is nothing in this world like Praha, nothing even close.
