For the first time I visited Athens in May-June 1997 -spring was terribly cold in Finland and I was in a bad mood for the weather not reaching more than +13 C even in the end of May :/ I was looking for a cheap last minute travel somewhere warm and was lucky enough to find myself in Athens in a few days :) I had always thought Greece is too touristic to my taste --but boy did I fell in love with the capital!!!

Since then I wanted to visit one or two of the islands as well and the result you can see on my THIRA (SANTORINI) page.

The second visit was just in April '03, to show the city to my fiance ;)

Pros and Cons

Pros: Acropolis, history of the world...
Cons: Dirty, noisy home of millions of people. Yet fascinating!
In a nutshell:Worth visiting at least once :)

The hotel staff were extremely friendly and looked after us very well. The food was very good with a vegetarian alternative offered . Lounge is large, quiet and comfortable. The bar provided better and cheaper snacks than any small taverna in the Plaka.

You need more than a couple of days for relaxing if you visit Athens, let's say like island of Poros and Agina...Good choice!

I spent a whole day here once.. lol.. The view from the air is fantastic.. I am sure not all taxi drivers are out to rob you.. Lovely page, and Thanks for your visit Jane.. ;-)
