This would have to be one of the most beautiful old buildings in the city. If you happen to visit the Riverside Markets on a Sunday - it's just up the road. Entry is free, and the building is open to the public 7 days a week (but closed public holidays)

Free admission and you could honestly spend nearly all day here. I recently took Imogen to see the latest Dinosaurs exhibition, and we were there for over 5 hours. There's always a new exhibition happening (for which you have to pay), but if you want to see the general displays, it costs nothing. Fantastic for the young and old!

Built between 1920 and 1930. This is of special importance to me, as my Great-Grandfather (on my father's side), was one of the architects who worked on the design of this beautiful building. Just the other day, I took my daughter up to the top to experience being under the bells when they rang (every 15 minutes). Children under 5 years are free, Children over 5 years are $ 1.00 and Adults cost $ 2.00.

If you're that way inclined, you can actually visit Queensland's first public building, which was built in 1868. They do have guided visits if you're interested from Monday to Friday during office hours (9am to 5pm). These tours are apparently free.

bezerra Sat Dec 10, 2005 12:10 UTC While I agree with the review on the food - the service was truly appalling. A rude waitress (using the term loosely here) destroyed the enjoyment of our evening. She told us "if you don't like it, don't come back". Well, we WON'T be going back. | harmoni Tue Apr 5, 2005 16:42 UTC Hi, thanks for the useful info about Brisbane (I admit I've kind of fallen in love with koalas :)) - and other great pages as well! | RedEaredPanda Sat Feb 19, 2005 00:39 UTC Thanks for the tips... Planning an overnight or possibly a two night stay in Brisbane in August..
