La Digue(pronounced La Deeg) is a charming island and more like what life in the Seychelles was like years ago.
The island is 32 miles from Mahe and 2 3/4 miles from Praslin.
There are well preserved colonial style houses, palm trees, air sented by tropical flowers, beautiful beaches, granite boulders, and a bird sanctuary for the endangered Seychelles black-paradise flycatcher.
Like the tourists, the 2,000 or so inhabitants use either oxcarts, bicycles, or minibus service to get around the island.
Sculpted by wind, rain, and sun, nature's materpieces adorn the beaches in La Digue. The natural granite boulders are amazing sights.
There is a magnificent 2-mile long beach that steps down from tumbled heaps of giant granite rocks. These rocks, one heaped on top of the other, seem as though they might fall down at any moment. They appear
either grey or pink, according to the angle of the sun.
- Pros:Breathtakingly beautiful
- In a nutshell:Should not be missed

I so enjoyed the lovely tour of La Digue! What a fabulous place. You certainly know how to travel and your tips are so helpful!
ahhh paradise! thanks for sharing a piece of it with us! the little red fody bird looks so darn cute!
Looks like you've been to several of my "Must See" destinations, Kay (Seychelles included!) You've built a great page here and thanks for the info on Anse Source d'Argent. I'll be back to explore more!
There are some quality birds in the Seychelles. I'd love to go there someday on a birding trip. BTW, thanks for checking out my Brazil page.
This looks such a peaceful spot Kay. The little fody looks pretty, and how wonderful to see the fly-catchers too!
What a relaxed sounding place to spend some 'down time'!! Wow, those granite-bouldered beaches are truly spectacular! Your husband must have enjoyed his vacation in this paradise!
Great page on La Digue, this island and beach were featured in a travel documentary shown in singapore a few days ago :)
Wonderful beach, indeed! And these very rare birds + the Jamalac trees :-) Good tips and some outstanding pictures.
What a beautiful place - hope to get there some day. Nice page. :)
La Digue is so pretty--the lovely beaches, unusual birds and the unique way to get around...by oxcart!!
