Wherever the road may take you, the journey through the countryside is beautiful and unspoilt. The roads are good.
It is a land of beautiful beaches, friendly people, and spectacular mountain scenery.
Flowers are in bloom all around and birding is very good there also.
I don't believe that I have ever seen any sunsets anywhere that were prettier than we saw when we were in Jamaica. Just spectacular!
The national bird of Jamaica is the streamertail or Dr Bird as they are often called. What ever you call them they are beauties. They have emerald feathers, black crown, and long curved tail feathers. Some have black bills and some have red. They can be seen in the trees and bushes. Their picture also can be seen on the two dollar bill and they are on the logo of Air Jamaica.
Take a look at my Anchovy page to see us feeding the birds.
- Pros:Flora and Fauna
- Cons:Hustlers
- In a nutshell:An island of natural beauty

You really saw quite a bit of Jamaica, Kay! Love the idea of inviting a bird to perch on your finger--an exciting experience for bird lovers to be sure!
Looking forward to a visit to Jamaica in February, and this page is really helpful. I'll certainly try to feed a hummingbird
Lovely page Kay a perfect place for bird watching & nature = the beaches look so inviting!!
Great description, suggestions and advices. I'd love the waterfalls, birds, flowering plants and sceneries - I am sure. Thanks for sharing. Hummingbird landing on your finger looks magical :-)
What w wonderful experience that must have been to have a hummingbirdd land on your finger. Cool or what. So did you find any TREASURE on Treasure Beach?
Loved seeing your comments and pictures of the Dr. Bird. I also went here on a birding tour to Jamaica. Wonderful place.
I would certainly have to go to Anchovy and see the hummers! How fun!
Those waterfalls looks SO refreshing Kay, what a gorgeous little Hummingbird too! How great to have two visits so close together. (~_~)
Super tip & travelogue on the bird feeding station! Now why don't my relatives get married in places like this?!
