Cousin Island became a nature reserve in 1968, when, with help from the World Wildlife Fund and Christopher Cadbury, it was bought in the name of the Royal Society for Nature as a haven for endangered species of land birds. It was made a special reserve in 1975. |
| | Cousin must be visited for its endemic landbirds It is the last island where examples of several endemics can still be seen. Cousin and Aride have the best consentration of seabirds in the Seychelles. |

VeronicaG Thu Jan 8, 2009 14:41 UTC When we visited Gran Cayman we stopped by a turtle sanctuary and saw a hawksbill, along with others. Amazing number of rare birds in Cousin....you were so fortunate to catch them with your camera! | scottishvisitor Fri Nov 28, 2008 21:35 UTC Nice to see your love of our feathered friends :( a great pity many are killed by a fruit tree. | Nemorino Fri Aug 29, 2008 19:22 UTC That's a funny name for an island, but it looks like a very fine place for wildlife protection. Too bad about the Pisonia grandis tree, but I guess that's a natural part of the habitat. | victorwkf Sat May 17, 2008 17:33 UTC This is a nice place to see some wildlife, thanks for sharing :) |
