After an all day drive along the coast from Melbourne, we finally arrived in Warrnambool around dusk.
It was originally named"Warnimble", an Aboriginal word meaning plenty of water.
That it has, It sits on the Lady Bay between the Hopkins and Merri rivers. Despite its size it still feels like a relaxing seaside village.
Many of the main streets are lined with Norfolk pine and New Zealand Xmas trees.
We fell in love with the town right away. To bad we only had two nights to spend here.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:It has the feel of a small village
  • Cons:You want to stay longer
  • In a nutshell:It is a great town

Nothing disturbs a sleeping koala- they could sleep for Australia. Nice to see you met so many of our feathered friends. leyle

I like Emu running all around the picnic area and sleeping koala.

What a temptation you have created! That B&B sounds perfect. Can't imagine having cockatoo on the balcony and Emu in the picnic area. What a fascinating vacation.

Priceless, Kay! What a find. Loved it when you talked about the free entertainment by looking out the window to see the birds! I think you should be called "Birdlady"!

Love the Galah Cockatoo & "Cat & Friends" pics. Macadamia Cheesecake sounds heavenly. And you saw a Koala Bear too - now I'm envious!!!!

Irene's little cat must have a way with birds--or else they are very trusting!! How did you manage to get so many pictures of the wildlife!?!
