"Statia" Sint Eustatius by kyoub
Sint Eustatius Travel Guide: 23 reviews and 37 photos
St. Eustatius is located 33 miles south west of the coast of Saint Maarten N.A. You travel to Saint Eustatius by arriving first on Saint Maarten N.A. and then take a connecting flight with WINAIR to Statia, which takes approximately 18 minutes.
The leeward side has limestone cliffs and some beach between the hills that fall to the sea.
From the south part of the island you can see the neighboring island of St Kitts. It looks so very close but you have to fly back to St Maarten, and
then change planes to get there.
If your plane comes in on the windfward side of the island you will get a view of the Quill in one direction, Zeelandia Bay on the other.
The runway is in the forground of the picture.
- Pros:The other Carribbean
- Cons:It doesn't take long to see it all
- In a nutshell:A quiet getaway

Another interesting place you have been to. The coast must be rugged, 200 shipwrecks is a lot!
Thanks for scanning in these photos from your 1992 visit to Statia. Reminds me that I really ought to start scanning some photos from pre-digital times.
Too many comments here about a goat...LOL...a goat is a goat. But a lovely goat if can call goats lovely...hmm...it is the coffee talking here!! Nice page Kay!
i see some things got your goat- ha ha !
Lovely views from your hotel. That was very cool to see a hummingbird sitting on her nest. And my guess is that it is a goat, but I didn't know they shaved goats!!!
This island seems to be a bit isolated, but perhaps that's what is so charming about it! Hee,hee...I thought your picture was of a sheep...recently sheared.
Hike to the highest part of the Quill sounds great! Fantastic views over the island and sea. Haha, I don't know whether you took a picture of sheep or a goat :-)
This Sint Eustatius does look like paradise. Love the animal pictures. It looks like the kind of place you love so much and do such a fine job of presenting to the rest of us. Thanks ever so much.
I also have trouble telling the difference between sheep and goats. I was told you could differentiate them by the way the fur goes - in circles are goats, straight is sheep. ??????
Hi Kay -had to laugh at your animal tips I think it's a goat - yes definately a goat!! Good page I enjoy your photos
