"Seaside village" Speyside by kyoub
Speyside Travel Guide: 18 reviews and 32 photos
Speyside is a small seaside village on the windward coast of Tobago. It has much to offer birdwatchers and scuba divers. If you are just looking for a place to relax, then you can do that too.
Goat Island and Little Tobago Island sit out in the bay. Goat island offers some exceptional diving experiences.
Little Tobago is also known as Bird of Paradise Island because in 1909 its owner, wealthy British newspaperman William Ingram, imported 50 of these birds from New Guinea. Ingram did this in the hopes of protecting these birds from being killed for there
beautiful feathers.
The birds did well on the island for many years, until Hurricane Flora blew most of the birds out to sea in 1963.
Many native birds now thrive on Little Tobago.
- Pros:Great birding
- Cons:Getting there
- In a nutshell:One of my favorite places

Wow, what a lovely place. Looks like you had a fabulous time. Excellent photos of all those beautiful birds. Excellent page Kay!
Hi, It looks like you stayed at the Blue Waters Inn recently. Would you recommend it for honeymooners? Thanks!
Manta Lodge with its beach looks fantastic. Unique shot of bat (Great drinks). Great tip and pictures of chachalaca. I enjoyed your Honeymoon general tip :-)
I enjoyed sharing your memories with you! All the amazing birds must have had you in ecstasy--it really sounds like a birders paradise! The bats must have been unique to watch, too...THANKS, Kay
Loved this page on Speyside. The red-billed tropicbird is absolutely gorgeous. So nice to see the lovely pic of the "Happy couple".
Kay, this is really a very unusual and fun place to read about. The tree house restaurant sounds really neat! The bats were great as were the birds [I know you love birds!] Keep creating these wonderful, exotic pages.
Happy 10th Anniversary! Speyside really looks like a tropical paradise, can't blame you for going back! Nice pics of the birds & bats (didn't see any bees!). We were not too far away in 1997 when we escaped to Venezuela's Margarita Island.
Nice page Kay - Scotland also has a speyside but not as exotic! Loved the way you captured the bats & birds
