Montego Bay is far from being the true Jamaica. If you are looking for that it is only a few miles away in the hill country. It can also be seen on the south coast about an hours drive away.
Mo Bay does have some beautiful resorts, great houses, and golf courses. Downtowm is crowded, with traffic jammed streets.
Get away and see the rest of the island.

I think we'll only be coming here to fly home - do you think we'll get to hear the singers when leaving as you did on arrival ;)
We'll be traveling here in July on our cruise to the Western Caribbean--thanks for the tip on car rentals...one can never be too cautious!
Great hotel tips. I hope to hear that song "Come to Jamaica" at Montego Bay airport someday :-)
Like your choice of hotels. We caught a cruise from Mo Bay in the '80's, but unfortunately it didn't seem like anyone from the island was very happy to see US! They cruiseline did engage a steel drum band to play while we waited to board which was nice!
Orange River Ranch looks lovely. We were lucky to rent a home owned by a man from Rhode Island.....beautiful countryside...gorgeous beaches.
Both places to stay sound just wonderful. You always "snag" some of the best hotels/B&B/resorts.
