"Birdwatching near the river" Tárcoles by kyoub
Tárcoles Travel Guide: 14 reviews and 37 photos
The Tarcoles river is 40 miles west of San Jose. The Tarcol Lodge is located near the river.
The Carara Biological Reserve is nearby.
Really the only reason to be in this part of Costa Rica, as far as I could tell, was to be there looking for birds.
With the reserve, ocean, river, and mangroves birds love it here.
- Pros:One of the few places where McCaws can be seen in the wild
- Cons:The beach has a lot of litter
- In a nutshell:A wonderful place for birding

Tarcol Lodge sounds like my kind of place! Sue and I did something similar at Crooked Tree in Belize a few years ago. Very interesting tips here and good bird identification too in your Travelogue!
your costa rica pages really have me intrigued about this country. i've fancied a visit to belize for ages - but this looks even better
Great sunset photo and the macaws sound lovely, though it's a shame about the messy beach - and the mosquitos ;(
Bird watching would be great! Sailing up the river would be pleasant on a lovely afternoon--keeping an eye open for crocodiles, of course.
Awesome opening photograph! Great place to watch birds. Thanks for warning on crocodiles. I never swim in unknown waters unless locals do it.
Lovely pastime:-Bird watching..I love animals too,...well done Kay.
Stunning opening photo, great atmosphere. Looks a good place for bird ( & crocodile!) watching Kay. Well done (~_~)
'Tarcol Lodge' looks like a fantastic place to stay and your pictures are so sober and stylish. Great work. ;-)
