Colombo is the financial capital and largest city in Sri Lanka, and is the one place that shows any major hint of western influence, with skyscrapers and neon creeping in amongst the traditional South Asian architecture, hustle and chaos. This is no Istanbul, however; the place remains a place of culture shock for westerners. While it does not have the culture or scenery of Kandy or the beaches of Galle, and the parliament has been moved to Sri Jayawardenapura-Kotte, it is still the hub of everything else.
