In October of 2002 I had the opportunity to visit the Lake District of Italy. I thought I had died and gone to heaven .... until I visited Bariloche Argentina. The sky is bluer, the mountains are taller, the lakes bigger and the forrests more abundant. It is obvious God worked overtime on this stretch of Land! |
| | Lago Nahuel Huapi This lake is the main focus of the region. It contains many islands to visit with national forrests surrounding it. The views are stunning and with so many side trips possible (Ruta de Siete Lagos, Mt. Tronador, boat trips to Chile, Bosque de Arrayanes, Isla Victoria and Villa la Angostura just to name a few) you would need several weeks to see almost everything. Bariloche is perfect no matter whether you enjoy summer or winter. |
Getting There To get to Bariloche from within Argentina requires either a 2.5 hour plane ride from Buenos Aires or a very long bus ride from anywhere. All planes must now go throug BA so if you start in Cordoba or Rosario, for example, you still go through BA. It is ALWAYS windy in Bariloche and the weather can change every 5 minutes so be prepared, even in summer (Dec-Feb) | | |
