"Beach Life Scottish Style" Ayr by zizkov
Ayr Travel Guide: 157 reviews and 244 photos
Ayr is a largish town (for Scotland) about 41 miles SW of Glasgow and about 5 miles from Glasgow Prestwick Airport. The former county town of Ayrshire, most notable as being the home area of Robert Burns (which of course is probably why you are reading this) it is also a seaside resort. Back before widespread foreign holidays, it was a major destination for Scottish holidaymakers, it is now more of a daytrip destination, having a largish sandy (though sometimes none too clean) beach.
There are some top golf courses in the area, Scotland's principal racecourse and a few other sights in the area also, set amongst some of Scotland's most verdant countryside.

somehow i have always missed ayr - what a mistake
the alloway auld kirk tip is great, i love exploring old ruins like that. i had a great time in scotland this year!
Great start! Culzean is my favourite place ever but it IS exorbitantly priced. I had to join the NTS so I could go regularly. Most ppl are too busy supporting one of the old firm to bother with Ayr Utd..
Great start , keep on ..:-)
