Isla de Tenerife Travel Guide: 1,401 reviews and 2,929 photos
Well, only 15 years after my previous visit, a return to Tenerife. And I find myself staying about 400m from where I did before. Up a big hill, though, and with the TF-1 running between me and my old digs.
Las Americas, it's not changed much, more of the same, but bigger. And I'm now viewing it with older, more travelled eyes. And whilst I'm sure there are fascinating places in Tenerife, this isn't one of them. Nor, really, is it meant to be. Full English, Union Jack, karaoke, Irish bar, steak'n'chips, Elvis. Blackpool in the sun, but without the trams, the Pleasure Beach and the Tower.
I escaped on the bus to the island capital, Santa Cruz. It made a change to be somewhere people were speaking Spanish.
A bus trip north to see the big cliffs. Quite impressive, though apartments are being built onto the rockface along from them. More English pubs etc than I expected to find. Though I did have some Austrian Kaffe und Kuchen
- Pros:Warm and sunny
- Cons:Personally, bored
- In a nutshell:Millions love it. This may be a good reason to go elsewhere.

David, interesting start here. It looks like you enjoyed your Austrian Kaffee and Kuchen.
I have never been to any of the Canary Islands but I always thought Tenerife to be one of the best because of the landscape.
