Nice, small town, conveniently located near Kansas City, MO.
I moved out here after living in the North Kansas City area, and getting married. I originally moved out here after getting hired by a company in the area. The job is long since gone, but we're still here.
The pace is considerably more laid-back than NKC ever dreamed of being, and I rather like that. I'm a "country boy" at heart, and this is definitely out of the city.
The school system around here is EXCELLENT! All three of my step-children have some kind of learning disabilty, and the school has been wonderful at adapting the curriculum to their needs. The schools in NKC were more of an "assembly line;" bring them in the front door, expose them to the teachers and the text books, and wheel them out the other door; if they actually learned anything, well, that's nice.
It's about 30 minutes drive to downtown KC, so we aren't too far out. And, considering the fact that this place still has a "small-town feel" to it, we have a surprising number of restaurants.
All in all, one of the more relaxing, enjoyable places I've lived.
- Pros:Laid back, more "rural town" than "suburban" feel
- Cons:Rapidly converting to generic suburban town
