Cordoba is the capital of the province of Cordoba, is a impressive Mudejar city, with a good mixture of the old and new times. The city is located on the banks of the Guadalquivir river under the slopes of the Sierra Morena. The city was founded during the roman empire by Claudius Marcellus, and was home to famous philosophers like Seneca the Young and Poets like Lucan. Later in the 716 the city was captured by the Muslims and became the capital of the Moorish Kingdom of El-Andalus. In that days Cordoba was one of the most important cities in the world, a cultural, political and commercial center. In 1236 the city was reconquered by the christians. |
| | Roman Bridge at night. Today Corboba is a nice city to visit, in a way it´s the typical spanish stereotype....Bulls, Flamenco, Tapas and Sangria...But besides that the city has some wonderful monuments like the Mosque-Cathedral, the Alcazar of the Christian kings, the Roman Bridge and the astonishing ruins of Medina Azahara nearby. |
