Sesriem is a camping place at the edge of the Namib-Naukluft Park, most of the tours camp here. There are good facilities for camping; showers, toilets, a bar an even a swiming pool. Around the camp there are superb views of the Naukluft Mountains located nearby.

Very close to the camp site, itīs possible to climb this magnificent dune; itīs a little hard to reach the highest point of it but after a 45 minute climb, you will have great views fo the Sesriem Valley.

Itīs one of the highlights of a trip to Namibia, and maybe the most known landscape of this country. Sossousvlei is a huge pan surrounded by red sand dunes. Thereīs a 65 kms ride from the main gate (located near Sesriem), the gates open before sunrise and close at sunset. Most of the visitors climb the Dune 45 to see the sunrise, if you have enough time also you can climb the Big Daddy the tallest dune of the Park. And of course everybody goes to the Deathvlei, to see the amazing contrast of the death trees, the salt pan and the red dunes.

At sunrise youīll see incredible views of the dunes and the pan. The bad thing is that there are thousand of people doing the same thing and at the same place.

Youīll see a lot of this melons at Sossousvlei. Itīs an endemic plant of the Namib desert. Itīs a source of food for the local people, they eat it fried, and also eat the seeds. And is also a source of food for the animals of the region, jackals, orixes and insects.
