"Los Cuchumatanes." Sierra los Cuchumatanes by euzkadi

The Cuchumatanes mountains are located western of Guatemala in the departments of Quiché and Huehuetenango (almost 300 kms from Guatemala City). The highest point of the range reachs the 3,800 mts). There are different types of ecosystems from pine oak lower mountain forests to shrub lands with few small trees and cacti in the higher slopes.

Due to how remote is it, it´s a part of the country few visited (apart from the famous Todos Los Santos Village). Sometimes moving around is quite complicated if you don´t have a car, few buses and no schedules but maybe that makes this area so exciting.

The weather is cold and foggy, depending the season there are hot days and blue skies, but the area is famous for it´s light rain almost all year, so humidity is high.
