"Peru´s Capital" Lima by euzkadi

Lima is a huge city with more than 8.5 million of inhabitants. The city is located in the shores of the Pacific Ocean and is the Capital of the country and the industrial and financial center of Peru. The city was founded the 18th of January of 1535.
There are a lot of interesting places to visit, specially the Historic Center of Lima with the Cathedral, the Governement Palace, the Archbishop Palace, the Palacio Municipal (City Hall) with it´s beautiful wooden balconies and some impossing convents and churches like the San Francisco Convent.
There are also some great museums like the Museo Nacional de Arqueología Antropología e Historia del Perú and the Gold Museum.
The new city comprises some neighbourhoods like Miraflores and San Isidro specially populars among the tourists.
In 1988, UNESCO declared the historic center of Lima a World Heritage Site.
