Most tourists stay in Florence for a day or two. I stayed longer as my cousin lives here and I had a chance to absorb the local atmosphere the most.
Of course you come to Florence for a lesson in history and a portion of culture. Traces of Etruscans, Romans, and others can be found all over the city.
Historic heart of Florence is piazza del Duomo where the most impressive cathedral with its amazing dome is located.
There are many piazzas in Florence but this one is probably the most attractive one. Seat of Florence government is located here and several publicly exposed sculptures where most attractions receive copies of Michelangelo's David and Neptun fountain.
