Chama is a small town in Northwestern New Mexico near the Colorado line. This is the southern terminus of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. In Early June 2004, we stopped here briefly to see the historic railroad cars by the station. This is another great scenic railroad of the Rocky Mountains. We did the Durango & Silverton Rail excursion the previous day and chose not to go on this railroad. |
The Location and How to get to Chama Chama is at the intersection of US Highways 84 and 64. It is located about 30 miles south of Pagosa Springs, Colorado or 60 miles to the west of Taos. The nearest bigger town is Farmington, NM. |
