Musikverein - Vienna

Musikverein

Musikverein Musikverein Review

The Musikverein was inaugurated by Emperor Franz Joseph in 1870.
The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's New Year's Concert, broadcast worldwide every year, is performed in the famous Golden Hall of the Musikverein. It is also the permanent seat of the orchestra.
I could enjoy a concert of the Mozarteum Orchestra in the Golden Hall.

Michaelertor - Vienna

Michaelertor

The main entrance to the palace Hofburg Review

The entrance is Michaelertor, this part of the palace complex is called Michaelertrakt. If you walked through the entrance under the dome, through a courtyard and out the other side of the building, you would end up in the square (platz) in front of Neue Burg.-
As you can see, the Michaelertor, is guarded by grandiose statues of Hercules and other heroic figures.-

Schweizertor - Vienna

Schweizertor

Schweizertor Hofburg Review

Schweizertor is a 16th century gate which leads to the oldest part of the Hofburg Complex. Schweizerhof (Swiss Courtyard) is immediately to the right once inside the courtyard.
The entrance to the State Apartments and Treasuries is on the southern side of the courtyard.-
I visited the Hofburg's Treasury and, in my opinion, the place is most definately worth the time you spend there.-

Schönbrunn Palace - Vienna

Schönbrunn Palace

Schönbrunn Palace Schonbrunn Review

Emperor Franz Joseph (ruled 1848-1916), who was born here in 1830, spent the last years of his life entirely in Schönbrunn. In 1918, the palace became the property of the new republic. The palace, and the surrounding buildings with the huge park are one of the most significant cultural monuments in Austria. The entire complex was taken up in the the UNESCO`s world cultural heritage list.-
Don´t miss the visit to the the magnificent apartments of Maria Theresa, her sitting rooms, bedroom and the parlour in which 6 year old Mozart used to play for the Empress, as well as the parlours and apartments of Imperial couple Franz Joseph and Sissi.-
