WELCOME TO PARAGUAY My incursion to Paraguay was to the contraband capital of South America. This city, located on the eastern edge of the country, shares a border with Brazil and Argentina. Ciudad del Este is a strange little wonderland of merchandising, where people of many countries and continents participate in a thriving local economy, made possible by the general lack of import duties. Hence, this place is a bastion of commerce, where residents of the nearby countries of Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay come to shop for the inexpensive, but name brand tennis shoes, clothing, electronics, sports equpiment, etc., etc. |
