2003: Finally was able to ski Whistler and Blackcomb. Conditions were not ideal yet but I see what all the fuss is about.

| | Whistler Mountain: West Bowl and Whistler Bowl A shot from Franz's Chairlift of the central and western face of Whistler Mountain. The large open bowl (with moguls barely discernable) is the West Bowl. The specks on the face ARE skiers!
Snow conditions on December 17th and the previous four days were marginal. Up high and somewhat off-piste was the best, though I gouged my skis on hidden rocks. Not all runs and lifts were open and skiing below mid-mountain was crappy/slushy and riddled with rocks. The sheer size of Whistler-Blackcomb makes it possible to find a few decent runs up top, if you know where to look.
Last year, at this time, was significantly better. Skiing in December can be marginal and 2004 was one of those years. |
