The Belgrade Fortress Kalemegdan Review

Something you just can't miss - the Belgrade Fortress in Kalemegdan park! The biggest and most beautiful park in Belgrade, with its old fort that has been ruined so many times in various battles. It has many gates, and a wonderful view on the city and the confuelnce of the two rivers. There is a small maquette of the earlier, original look of the fortress near the Victor statue.

The Old Court Srpskih Vladara Review

This place used to be the court during the times of the kingdom, it was king's palace and it is where one of the kings was killed with his wife, they were thrown out of the window!!! :(
Today, it is a place popular for welcoming our athletes after great victories (especially basketball, volleyball and waterpolo players), because people gather in mass at the specious area in front of the court (and smash all the flowers carefully planted! Horrible!)

25. maj complex Dedinje Review

The museums and mausoleum of "25. maj" complex are situated at Dedinje, the "fancy" part of the town, in the beautiful forest with nice trees and benches, before there were lots of flowers, now here are only some. The fountain is inactive, and full of graffitti, but nonetheless there is a nice view on the main building. In front of Tito's grave there are pink roses, some statues and figures in the park around. Inside the ethno gifts collection you'll find several chambers one below the other, with neon lights and if you position your camera on the glass in the center you can make interesting perspetive photos! You'll see several chair & tables sets, but don't get fooled, they're just exhibits! There are other benches for resting!
On these photos you can see how the museum complex looks from outisde and inside.

Directions: Bus/trolley line 40 or 41, it stops right in front of the mausoleum

Tito's ethno gifts museum Dedinje Review

Here is the collection of the gifts that Tito got from all those famous and unfamous people of the world. You will find the most bizarre things in there, from the knife of the chieftain Mangbetu of some tribe in Zair, over Austrohungarian rifles to the gong from Papua New Guinea! There are a lot of national costumes from all over the world, musical instruments, pottery, dolls, handicrafts...

Tito's mausoleum Dedinje Review

This is the place where the big communist leader and world famous ex-YU president was buried, Josip Broz Tito, or Drug Tito (Comrade Tito). He is one of the most controversial personalities in our history. During his reign he was a "God" and now he is being laughed at. I guess the truth is somewhere in the middle. :-)
This is his eternal house, it's a museum called "25. maj" (25th of May was his birthday), where he is buried and where you can find a museum of ethno presents he got from all over the world, lovely garden, etc.
It's also called "kuća cveća", "the house of flowers", because before it was a small botanical garden with the most diverse flowers. Now there are only some roses in front of the mausoleum entrance...
The entrance is FREE.
In these pictures you can see several scenes from the mausoleum inside.

Ušće Danube & Sava river Review

Ušće (literally meaning CONFLUENCE) is the area around the confluence of Sava river into the Danube. It is very vast and lovely, and offers a lot - from the long, beautiful promenade along the rivers to wild night life. It's full of cafes, walking places, restaurants, a big park, lovely views...

Crkva Ružica - Ružica (little rose) church Kalemegdan Review

A cute, picturesque church at Kalemegdan, heart of Belgrade. There is a wonderful view on the confluence of two rivers, Sava and the Danube, and the atmosphere is very romantic and charming. For me it is the most beautiful church in Belgrade, with the most beautiful location and very cozy, intimate and spiritual atmosphere.

Branko's bridge Danube & Sava river Review

Cross the bridge on foot. It is a bit polluted (you'll feel the gases from cars), but it's worth it. There is a fantastic view on both sides of the river, especially at sunset/dusk. Stop a bit, enjoy the view and take some photos.

Pirate ship restaurant ;-) Danube & Sava river Review

Along the Danube & Sava quay on Novi Beograd & Zemun side of the town you'll find many rafts and boat restaurants and cafes, there is a real abbundance! Some are pretty original, some are ultra modern, some are very old and wooden and some in the shape of old ships.

Bicycle lift Danube & Sava river Review

Now there is a new feature almost in the middle of the Branko's bridge! A bicycle lift! It's for those people who would like to cycle along the riverside under the bridge, and don't want to spend hours in alternative streets full of traffic and smogue. Now there is an easy access right from the bridge in the super fancy stylish lift! :-)
