Baška is a bit cut off from the Krk-Punat complex, at the very south of the island and among the naked scenery. There are vegetationless rocks surrounding it, but if you hike in the paths above Baška, you'll find various vegetation, as well as at the rest of the island. It is famous for the big pebbled beach (but since it's facing the open sea, there are waves all the time), that looks like one of the tropical beaches. :) But, even more, it is famous for the ancient document "Bašc'anska ploca" stone board, stone carvings in glagolic alphabet. Today the original is kept in the museum in Zagreb, while the copy is set in the place of origin, in the church where it was. |
