Osijek is a very lovely old city in Slavonija, fit in the midst of the Slavonian plain! It's a typical Austro-Hungarian style old town, with cute colourful houses, flowers on balconies, large squares...
There is a beautiful promenade on the river Drava with lots of cafes and a raft restaurant-bar on the river, a bridge that is enlighted in the evenings and adds to the romantic atmosphere.
There are beautiful parks, the streets are very clean, including the market place, the main church that they call cathedral, but it's not in fact, is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen...
Maybe it's a bit quiet and slow for a taste of someone who loves wild, exuberant noisy cities, but it suited me just fine! I relaxed and enjoyed peaceful moments and wonderful time with my dear friends!
There are also wonderful little tiny places, like Valpovo, Bizovac, Djakovo... nearby, that are worth a visit, especially Bizovačke Toplice, a spa with special thermal water, the hottest spring in the world, with the water of 96º C at the spring!
