The best way to stay in Tuscany is agriturismo - private guesthouses on the top of the lovely, picturesque Tuscan hills, in the charming stone houses in typical Tuscan style, with great comodity and extreme beauty! I stayed in one of them, called Casale Virgili, at the very edge of Siena.

Santa Croce in Fossabandais an old convent converted into a hotel. it is VERY BEAUTIFUL, peaceful and original. It is only 10-15 min. on foot from the downtown, just a couple of minutes away from the Arno river.
Unique Qualities: It is very clean, authentic, rustic and incredibly original. Since it's an ex-convent, the rooms are inside ex-monk rooms. But now there is electricity, TV and everything. :) And bathrooms of course!! I'm very happy with the choice of this hotel, and I highly recommend it. There is a church within a hotel complex, BTW. :) It belongs to the ex-convent, and it's the only part of the convent that wasn't converted into a hotel!! People from Pisa come to pray there just normally. This is the view inside the hotel, from the door of the room where we stayed.
