Absolutely the best and most beautiful city in all Egypt! A capital of the antique world, the cradle of culture, the most imposrtant cultural and historical place of the old world. A home place of two of the seven world wonders, of Alexander the Great, Cleopatra, and so much more! A fascinating city with impresive by the sea 25 km long avenue, wonderful architecture, amazing gardens (Montazah), beautiful mosques, little streets and local citizens hospitality. With the scent of the Mediterranean... I just LOVE it!

Fully agree with your intro comments - I also loved Alexandria and thought it was really underrated. Guess how I ended up here, BTW... ;-)

Not only did Diocletian built the Serapeum column but he built also the city walls of Grenoble, my home town, and not to forget his famous palace in Split. He was a great builder all over Europe !

Cradle of human culture: China-India-Mesopotamia-Jerusalem-Athena-ALEXANDRIA-Roma. I'm following your cultural discovery path in order to complete mine. Thanx ! [segap aidnI ym tisiv].

Have dreamed of visiting Alexandria ever since I first read "Justine" - the book that defines the city. Nice page - Justine is the first of 4 books that make up Lawrence Durrell's Alexandrai Quartet - fantastic reading. leyle
