The huge statue of Ramses, and a smaller one of his wife around his feet is something that stands out the most in Karnak, and one of the things that impresses the most. You'll find lots of people wanting to take photos in front of it, and only when you see them posing and comparing their size to the monument, you'd realize how huge it is...

The great Colossi of Memnos, set by the faraon Ehnaton. They are on the way to Karnak, quite close and usualy on the organized tours, this is the first thing you'll be taken to see. All the buses are going there together, more than 200 buses in the queue, accompanied by the police, after the tragic event of the death of tourists in Luxor in 1997.

Karnak is full of little sphinxes! This one awaits you after the entrance to the temple, it's somehow "left out" and it seems pretty much alone in the spot where it is...

It is incredible how fascinating the huge columns of Karnak are! And all of them are carved with hieroglyphs, and quite well preserved. The guides are usually spending half of their time speaking about the columns only.

Every corner gives something else in Karnak. This "room" with statues is kind of aside, off the main track, and not so invaded by tourists.

There are many walking paths along the temple, many are hidden behind the walls! It's a great chance to escape the tourist crowds. Tourists are always massively circulating in the main path.

The great temple of the great Queen! It is not completely reachable by vehicles, you get to park very far from the temple, and then you have to walk on the sun, so be prepared to extreme heat and always carry water and something to cover yourself with you. The heat ain't funny! ANd the temple looks MUCH CLOSER than it really is, so be careful to estimate your time well...
