I thought I had found true paradise in Isla Holbox. However, as I later would find, the true paradise lie in a few islands nearby. Early one morning, I joined three other fellow travelers on a sea journey to Isla de los Pajaros, Isla Yollohow, and Isla de la Passion. The trip was an amazing experience. There are no tour operators in Isla Holbox, so you better hire a local fisherman to take you there. Costs about $60 USD per boat and you can pack as many as you can in one boat.

Isla de los Pajaros is an island reserved as a bird sanctuary. As you leave the lancha, one walks down a dock that leads to one of the two lookout towers with a palapa on top. This two towers offer amazing vistas of the island, which incidentally serves as the home of several different types of birds. As you can see, we saw several kinds of birds on this island.

Isla Yollohow has an ojo de agua so beautiful it'll make you want to stay in that island forever. The Laguna is located in the middle of the island and it's fed by an underground fresh-water river. You can even see the water coming off from a whole right in the middle of the lagoon. The water must be coming from deep underground for its currents are really cold....brrrrr. This never deterred us from taking a swim over and over again :). It's an interesting sight.

Check out the dock leading to the lagoon on Isla Yollohow. For some reason it reminds me to those movies in the South Pacific.

Isla de la Passion (a.k.a. Isla Condon or Isla Mosquito) is one of the other paradise locals at Earth. Why is it named Isla del Condon? Well, to put it midly, the locals have always gone there to "make" babies at various times of years :). However, there are a few months of the year where the island is covered with nasty mosquitos so that's why they've given it another nickname: Isla Mosquito. Don't worry, the locals don't go there at that time of the year.

The Island is connected to other islands through a sand bar in the ocean that is hundred of feet long and wide. This area's water level is low ranging from 1/2 a feet to a few feet at most. At one point, I literally ran across water :). Gorgeous!

Alas, the boat trip came to an end after about 4 hours. We saw birds, fish, crabs, rays, fish, a turtle, and the paradise around Isla Holbox for 500 pesos (back then it was about $60 USD) per boat. I truly thing that those $15 US dollars have been and still are one of the best things I’ve done with my money in my life.
