Veracruz

by darthmilmo - last update: Feb 27, 2003

Picture of Veracruz taken from the imfamous Fort
Veracruz has seen it's face in many a movie. The historic first Spanish fortress in Mexico, the Fort of San Juan de Ulua, makes the trip to the humid city of Veracruz worthwhile. If you think it looks familiar, you are probably right! It's been shown in several movies, including "Romancing the Stone". Michael Douglas spent 2 months in Veracruz filming that movie. That same movie contains a scene in the Cascadas de Texolo (check out my Xico, Veracruz or Xalapa, Veracruz page for info on that interesting waterfall).

Anyway, don't forget to walk around the many plazas and enjoy your stay. Check out some more pics and tips on my Veracruz page.

Thanks for the pics on the Fort. I see I missed out on that when I was in Veracruz. Next time! Also, agree on your Malecón tip. And don't melt, exactly! We sat for beverages on a beachfront place, indeed way overpriced.

That's always the way. Wherever tourists flock, the prices are too high...what a crock.
