I was really impressed with Bogotá, the capital of Colombia. It is an extremely clean city compared to the ugly dusty capital cities found elsewhere in Latin America. The downtown area, especially around plaza Bolivar is really nice. I saw the governmental buildings of Colombia: the Congress, Supreme Court, presidential palace (tours of the inside are available so bring good clothes and shoes), etc. all from outside only. You can arrange a tour to the presidential palace, but I didn’t felt like waiting a day for that. Besides, my shoes where still wet from the Lost City Trek and they didn't let people wearing sandalls in there.
