Sign in with FacebookI didn't visit that many Chilean towns/cities, but I can tell you something, most of them seem to have a lovely comercial district with interesting shops, cafes, and more. Arica is no exception, I had a really good breakfeast in the commercial district near the Cathedral and the Aduana. Nearby Parque Nacional Lauca is worth a visit.

Calama is a lovely town with tons of interesting shops and a movie theater. It's a transportation hub, one of the best in northern Chile. It's a really nice place to recharge for a day or two... perhaps buy that extra item of clothing you were missing :).

San Pedro de Atacama is the town to go if you want to wonder off into the amazing Salar de Uyuni and nearby Lagunas. It also offers several other tour services into the Atacama Desert itself. I highly recommend the Valle de la Luna tour (specially the afternoon/evening tour during full moon).
