Louisiana is another country in its own. Colonized at first by France, the region developed its own unique culture not seen anywhere else in the United States.
The best way to see the state, IMHO is by car. Just drive across the Creole Highway or across one of the the largest bridge on Earth crossing the Atchafalaya Basin and you will notice you are not in Kansas anymore.
Oh, and don't leave this beautiful state without trying the unique creole, cajun, and other quisines. They really now how to master the art of cooking here, a rarity in the US.
