Some ubiq Goa addons

by ubiq - last update: Apr 26, 2003

Because many VTians have so rich and detailed Goa pages, I have put here just some addons, mostly about the things I have not noticed on the other pages fro recent times at Goa.

I am not Goa vet myself, but I think I am very well aware about the recent history of psych Goa and techno threads and about the communicative dolphins fed with amphetamine by Timothy Leary at '60s etc., which inspired William Gibson to make his neew order Bible Neuromancer,

Many of my friends have spent original Freak Brothers fanzine times at Goa since '70s for giving colourful pills for their cat.

So I am not happy to say, but nowadays classic Goa area is merely a tourist trap. R.I.P. psych Goa. If you wanna have some techno rave at Goa, you can just buy it souvenirs shops for 1 USD with each CD. If you want to have more techno at nite at beach, hire an old Edsel bike and run the motor near your ears. ;-)

Anyway, Goa is still good place to spend some 2-week with absorbing sun, beach and good seafood. But do not expect any nite raves, mental inner space sedimentation in peace or cosmic harmony with gurus. Heydays have gone far more to the south of Anjuna and Panjib. Even the yoga meditation gurus have seen more valueable bisnes to the more tranquil places to the south from Anjuna, Baga, Calangute and Candolim.

My trip was there at Spring 2003.

I will finish my Goa tips and add photos at May 2003.

Pros:"People; relaxing; eating; reliable sun; South Goa"
Cons:"Nowadays mostly packet tourist trap"
In A Nutshell:"A classic paradise area decllining to the mass tourism."

I was disapointed to see on my last visit in Jan 2008 that the Indian Impact is no longer there. Does anyone know what happened ? Did they go back to Mangalore?

Me and my wife had a meal in Souza Lobo in march this year 2005 of all the places we ate at this one we could not recommend , over priced, over talked about, over rated, we did complain they just looked at us without a word .
