"Painted Hills" John Day Fossil Beds National Monument by kyrzar

Abnormal Hills

The painted hills are kind of odd looking, but in a very photogenic way.

Supposedly the hills are made from volcanic ash that erode really easily.

The Painted Hills are a bit far out of the way, though. They're about 4 hours from Portland, and there isn't much in this part of Oregon. The drive is nice, though, and I would say it's worth it.
