Thomas Pit Barbecue: Real Barbecue

Their barbecue is particularly tender. It's served in the local style; you put the sauce on, either hot sauce or white sauce.

Greenbrier: Welcome to Alabama

There are two Greenbriers, Greenbrier Restaurant and Greenbrier BBQ. I'm not sure what caused them to split up, but basically Greenbrier Restaurant got the cool old building while Greenbrier BBQ really has the original finger-lickin-good food. This food is Alabama in its essence.

Favorite Dish: My favorite item is the big plate of darkmeat chicken. Other things that are good are the barbecue and the catfish. The coleslaw is my favorite of all time. You may also notice north Alabama's two local barbecue sauces on the table... red sauce (thin sauce from vinegar and cayenne) and white sauce (vinegar, mayonnaise, and black pepper i think). Greenbrier really does the white sauce well.

Korea House: Spicy

This little korean buffet has always been a favorite of mine. the decor is nothing spectacular, but the food's pretty good. i always see koreans eating there, so i guess it's authentic, too.

Favorite Dish: They have this spinach stuff that's really good.

Surin of Thailand: mmm... satay

This place has a nice elegant atmosphere and good thai food. They also have a sushi bar (is sushi thai?).

Favorite Dish: Anything in satay or panang sauce.

they have some good thai food. Thai garden is more cozy and less generic than Surin.

Favorite Dish: I can't remember the name, but it's spicy chicken and vegetables with peanuts. Really good stuff
