asturias is located in the northern part of spain and very different from the spain most tourists know.
it's not the place you go to seek sun and discos full of tourists, but the place you go if you like amazing nature, charming fishing villages and a culture that is a mix of north and south europe.
the inhabitants of asturia are spanish, but there is a strong influence from the outside world as the asturians have migrated a lot to the americas and because of it's location by the bay of biscaya it has also attracted a lot of emmigration from the north.
when i was in asturias i went hiking and canyoning and repelled down a waterfall.
great experience even if it was february and quite cold (we had wetsuits on for the repelling and the canyoning).
aturias is in general a very good place to go if you like the great outdoors.
a green rochy coastline with some very dramatic mountains as a backdrop makes a good setting for a hiking holiday.

Hello, Claus! Thanks for sharing your great experiences here!~
Nice small page about Asturias. I hope to visit this wonderful region one day. Thanks for sharing, Claus!
Asturias truly is special. I feel lucky to have been there!
Hi & thanks for stopping by. Nice tips on Asturias, too!
Going to see a bit of Asturias again on my next trip and will certainly try the cider!
How nice to see the less touristy parts of Spain. Looks a stunning area.
Very nice page. Love the pic of the boulders at the harbour ;-)
Hi! Finally I have my own Asturias page too. And today I created Cudillero page. You're welcome!
What a beautiful part of Spain! I just might add it to my itinerary. Not sure if I can talk the whole family into rappelling down a waterfall, though...
Fabulous little page...I especially like the llanes and your "canoes in asturias" photos. Well done. :-)
