"Brazils pretty mountain state." Estado de Minas Gerais by cachaseiro

Estado de Minas Gerais Travel Guide: 399 reviews and 1,223 photos

Minas gerais is named after all the mines they have in the state as it is one of the places in the world with the most gold, silver and gem stones.
Because of that there was a lot of wealth aquired during the colonial years and today it´s one of the most interesting parts of Brazil seen from a historical point.
The state has many colonial towns with very well preserved buildings, but because it´s a state with no coastline it sees fairly few tourists so there is a chance to see a very pretty part of Brazil without being surrounded by tourists all the time.

Oh, first :) Agree, Minas Gerais is a very interesting pat of Brazil that not so many visit. I've been there twice but only in Ouro Preto. Would like to visit other colonial towns, especially Bichinho, and also take that train.
