throughout brazil you have lot's of good markets where you can buy handmade crafts. most of it is not made for tourists, but that just makes it more authentic. if you buy it you will get a good souvenier and also help the local economy.

i came across some very talented artists in various parts of brazil who painted portraits at prices that were extremely low compared to europe. if you ever thought of having a portrait done brazil could be the right place to get it.
What To Pay: this is a matter of negotiation, but the prices are low.

music is such a big part of a brazil trip as you constantly hear it and brazilian music is damn catchy. cdīs can easily be bought from guys walking around the streets with little wagons with speakers on. the cdīs are mostly pirate copies, but they will usually let you listen to it first before you purchase it.

Directions: these guys are walking up and down the streets all the time and you can spot them easily as they are constantly playing their music very loud.

beach vendors.

when sitting on a big city beach you will have vendors walking up and down the beach all the time selling mostly food and drink. i find that quite nice as you donīt really have to leave the beach in order to get a snack. these people will sell anything from nuts to fresh oysters.
What To Buy: mostly food and drink, but sometimes other stuff too like jewellery and music.
