Phnom penh. - Cambodia

Phnom penh.

Phnom Penh.

Phnom penh is the capitol of Cambodia and a place with quite a few interesting sights.
Both the royal palace, toul sleng, the killing fields and the national museum are absolute must sees in my opinion.
Nake sure you give yourself at least 2-3 days to explore this interesting city even if it might seem a bit dirty and dusty at first sight.

Floating village in Cambodia. - Cambodia

Floating village in Cambodia.

Floating villages by Tonle sap.

By the big lake called Tonle sap you have lot's of villages build on stilts.
That means they are living a Venice like lifestyle during the wet season and a life on stilts in the dry season.
It's very facinating to visit these villages and see this very different and unique lifestyle.
Most of the year you will have to rent a boat to visit the villages and that can be done through tour operators if you are staying in Siem Riep.

Ankor Wat. - Cambodia

Ankor Wat.

Ankor Wat.

Ankor Wat is without a doubt the biggest tourist attraction og Cambodia.
It's a huge temple set among dozens of other ancient buildings in what was the ancient Ankor around 1200 years ago.
The ankor wat temple might be the most famous one, but it's located next to several other very scenic temples from the same time period, so try to make sure that you have at least two full days to see the area around the Ankoe Wat.

Directions: Ankor Wat is located in western Cambodia next to the big lake called Tonle Sap.

southern cambodia - Cambodia

southern cambodia

cambodian countryside

get away from the city and out on the countryside.
that is where you see a totally different side of cambodia.
very calm and quiet and still untouched by mass tourism.
