Cambodia is a country with a very interesting history.
Both the ancient and the modern history.
about a thousand years ago it was a very powerful country run by ther khmers who originally came from India and Sri Lanka and it was also the place where the communist regime "khmer rouge" uner Pol Pot in the 1970's killed around one third of the population of Cambodia in order to build a rice farming country free of all intellectuals and wealthy people.
Today it's a country that is emerging from the ashes after the years of khmer rouge terror.
The country get a lot of help from foreign NGO's and i am fairly confident that Cambodia will emerge as a well functioning country within a couple of decades.
It's one heck of an interesting place to visit these years.
Of course because of the amazing Ankor Wat, but also because of all the other things Cambodia has to offer.
Go there now.
This place is still an adventure to visit.

Hi Claus! Fine tips you have here. L.
I definitely won't eat spiders and crickets! When travelling by your own did you just look on the spot for a room or sometimes prebook? And how many full days at Angkor in order not to be stressed? Sorry for the questions.
Have to come back to check out your Cambodia page esp since your recent adventures!Popped into VT before heading off to work & reminded that its the Biking Vikings birthday today so best wishes for another special celebration wherever you are!
I revisited your Cambodia page Claus!! Excellent! We too are planning to visit Cambodia in Oct'11
Hi, just changed it. I am playing around with some wierd websites. How are you? WHere are you?
I have seen the sites on TV many times and Ancor Wat and floating homes must be surreal to see in person, Nice job of making comments and pictures.
Wow, Being the innocent little boy that I am, I had no idea about the 'happy' food ;-)
I had a great time in Cambodia too! Really enjoyed it. Tried the Palm Sugar & Rice Wine, but no Spiders for me!
Claus, you made a great trip there! ><><><
Great tips. Thanks for sharing.
