hotel jørgensen is a combined hotel/hostel right in the center of town.
it can be a bit cramped at times, but it's very central and has one of the best hostel breakfasts you will ever come across.
it also has me working at the reception if i happen to be in denmark.

Unique Qualities: the part time receptionist.

there lot's of bed and brakfasts in copenhagen.
it's generally private people that has a room or 2 to rent out.
it's a cheap option if you want a private room.

Sleep-in Heaven: another hostel

sleep in heaven is a laid back hostel in a very nice part of town.
it's a typical backpacker place with lot's of young people around and good common areas.
the dorm is quite big though, so be prepared for a bit of noise.
they have a good website where you can reserve a bed in advance.

cab inn is a hotel with clean functional, but small rooms.
it's located in a nice part of copenhagen near the lakes and has rooms for 1 to 4 persons.
a good economical choice if you are not claustrophobic, because the rooms are really small.

happy days at ajax

this is a combines hostel/campground.
it's only open during the summer and is run by volunteers from a handball club.
it's the cheapest accomodation in town and the people working there are very freindly and easy going.
the place could do with a little more shower facilities, but if you can accept that you might have to wait 15 minutes for a shower then it's a very good place to stay.
the place also have a few private rooms for rent for a very cheap price.

this is not a cheap option at all, but if you have a layover in copenhagen airport and wanna treat yourself to some luxury, then this is the place to do it.

Unique Qualities: the hotel is situated 50 meters from the check in terminal, which makes it perfect if you have an early morning flight.

danhostel city is a newly opened youth hostel with more than 1000 beds.
it has a very modern look and the rooms are very nice and clean.
the place is spotless and very centrally located right behind the city hall.
main drawback is a very early check out which makes it a little hard to go out and party at night if you are leaving the next day.

city public hostel.

city public hostel is run by a youth club that organises activities and does social work in copenhagen most of the year, but during the summer months the place is turned in to a hostel.
the sleeping quarters are pretty crappy to be honest, with dorms with up to 50 beds, but the place is extremely friendly with very helpful staff and that has made the place a popular backpacker hangout for many years.

Unique Qualities: the staff makes the place.
they are very helpful and backpacker minded.

bellahøj camping is a fairly simple camp ground that caters to both cars and people by foot and bike.
it's located roughly 5 kilometers from the main square and is a fairly central spot to pitch your tent as long as you are ready to accept that it's no luxury place.
it's a campground that is kinda like most campgrounds were untill they turned in to small disneylands a few years ago.
simple, basic and cheap are the key words to this campsite.
be aware that it's only open the moneths of june/july and august.
