"SALVADOR" Salvador da Bahia by cachaseiro
Salvador da Bahia Travel Guide: 629 reviews and 1,337 photos
Salvador is the cultural center of brazil.
The slaves from africa were mainly shipped to this part of Brazil and you see that people here are darker than in the rest of brazil.
They are mainly of mixed race like most other brazilians, but with a darker complexion.
You also see many traces of african culture in Salvador.
Most the good bands in brazil comes from Salvador and it's also the center of capoeira.
Brazils most famous writer, Jorge amado, came from ilheus, but lived most of his life in salvador.
You don't truely know brazil until you have been to Salvador.

Definately a good view at the sporting events!
Very interesting page. Brazil is on my wish list.
My last time here was 30 years ago, great to walk in the old town, but a bit dangerous as well then.
I expected to meet J. Amado at a street corner in Salvador de Bahia. . I like this short introduction to Bahia of all Saints and will remember the sports tip, Claus!:) My S. America map is still blank, and I hesitate about where I will begin to colour it.
Interesting page here.Sorry for the beating!Greetings
I would definitely like to explore Brazil a little more... thanks for the tips!
Seems like an interesting place to visit. Though you still have to take care here by the sounds of it!!! ;)
Hmmm...not so nice beaches in Salvador? I'm considering it for my next trip...
*** dude... take care.
Most capoeiristas drug addicts? So not true! Many who play in tourist areas are there to make money, like the baianas who pose for $ and the souvenir hawkers. If you look like a tourist with a few $ to donate, you'll get hit up.
