"Lafayette, INDIANA" Lafayette by dzni

Lafayette is the counterpart to West Lafayette, or maybe vice-versa, I don't know. ;) At any rate, Lafayette is the bigger of the two towns and boasts the being the county seat for Tippecanoe. The Wabash River separates the two cities.... a grand river indeed. ;) Ok, not really, but it is a pretty sizeable river, feeding into the Ohio and eventually the Mississippi. Anyway, downtown Lafayette is kind of neat looking with its ornate courthouse, the Riehle Plaza transportation center (Amtrak, buses, etc.), and a few restaurants along Christmas-light lined streets. Although, it is pretty dead downtown at night. There are a few shops as well, but I've never ventured into any of them... if any of you have been to Colorado Springs or Boulder, or any place like that, this is NOT like those places when I say shops and restaurants.

That aside, Lafayette sports a plethora of billowing factories dotting the landscape in the distance. Two hospitals that I know of, a mall farther out, and then just the regular assortment of shops, fast food joints, and houses around the city. There's a fair amount of traffic around 5pm, which of course is rush hour (again, don't be mistaken.. this is not on the scale of say Chicago or San Francisco).
