Magnificent! Awe-inspiring! Incredible! Breathtaking! Wow! All words you may use when you first see this magnificent work of natural beauty! Really, this is one of the few natural wonders everyone must see once. Ok, I know there are some of you out there they may step up and say "Hey, that's a really big hole!" Hopefully you'll be one who will be speechless. Photographs can't do justice to this enormous canyon. And you know, it's not even so much the rock being beautiful, because I think Bryce Canyon may have the Grand Canyon beat there; but rather, just the enormousness of the canyon... its sheer size and depth, and wondering what it took to get to this point! Ah, anyway, it is beautiful, and I hope you think so too.

My advice, when you're here, is to obviously see this canyon from the viewpoints placed strategically on the South Rim. (The North Rim, I have heard, is equally beautiful, but less accesible). However, I really think everyone should dip below the rim, at least a little (i.e., hike below it). It gets you away from the crowds. And the farther you go down, the fewer people there are!

You were about 30 years too late in getting there.

El Tovar Hotel is a category under Grand Canyon National Park - Hotels & Accommodations and there aren't very many tips in that location.
